Avisek (Avi) Majumdar
Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, Ayurvedic Consultant
I’m Avisek (Avi) Majumdar, a psychologist whose work bridges Western depth psychology with the ancient wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda. My approach is grounded in the belief that psychological well-being emerges when body, mind, and spirit are addressed as one.
I was born in India, where I was immersed in yoga, mantra chanting, meditation, and Ayurvedic living from childhood. Over the past 30 years as a seeker and practitioner, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the world’s most respected teachers — the Ramakrishna Order, the Bihar School of Yoga, and receiving blessings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. These encounters have profoundly shaped my understanding of the psyche, healing, and transformation.
As a psychologist, I am deeply inspired by the work of Carl Jung. His insights into the unconscious, archetypes, and individuation resonate strongly with the yogic vision of self-realization. My therapeutic lens is therefore depth-oriented, somatic, and integrative: we explore dreams, symbols, and unconscious patterns while also working with the body’s innate wisdom and the regulating tools of yoga and Ayurveda.
In practice, I focus on helping clients develop a resilient, grounded ego structure — one capable of holding emotional intensity, metabolizing experiences, and making space for deeper meaning. Rather than offering quick fixes, my work emphasizes psycho-spiritual education and practical tools for sustainable change.
Sessions may include talk therapy, somatic awareness, breathwork, relaxation practices, or guided meditation. Each is a collaborative process, designed not just for relief, but for reconnection with your authentic self.
At the heart of my philosophy is a simple principle:
Ancient wisdom for modern living
